The Nepalese Ministry of Supplies decides to build a urea factory in Bardaghat and Nawalparasi has agreed to provide the needed natural gas.
The proposed plan is expected to cost Rs72 billion and its annual capacity is estimated to be 700,000 tonnes.
Urea is the most commonly used nitrogen fertilizer and it is produced by ammonia and nitrogen.
The fertilizer company is planned to produce 1,250 tonnes of fertilizer per day. In this way the Nepalese imports can be reduced, today, in fact, the Nepal imports are about 400,000-500,000 tonnes of urea annually. When fertilizer is produced domestically, it will ensure timely and regular supplies to the country and it is possible reduce the government’s financial burden significantly.
