In a recent plan for the development of the power distribution network in Bulgaria, the Electricity System Operator (ESO) said that the country is expected to add 1,817 MW of power generation capacity by 2025, with gross availability seen at 52,627 GWh in ten years. The document estimates that 1.24 billion levs ($697.82 million/633.95 million euro) need to be invested in the country’s power distribution network, as 36.7 million levs will be EU funds. Power plants running on renewable sources will account for 1,420 MW of the planned new capacities. The share of energy from renewable sources, currently standing at 15.49% of the total, will reach 19.9% by 2025.
